Principal's Bio


Gregory Bailey was born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee. At Karns High School he was very active in 4-H  and became a National 4-H Winner his senior year of 1979.  He graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 1983 with a degree in the geosciences.  Greg worked in the public sector until he decided he wanted to become an educator.  He graduated with a Masters in Science Education from the University of Tennessee and started teaching science at Fulton High School and the Knox County Evening Adult High School in the early 1990s.  He received his Education Specialist degree in Administration and Supervision from Lincoln Memorial University and his Doctorate from the University of Alabama. Dr. Bailey taught science ten years in Knoxville and five years in Georgia.  He moved to the Whitfield County Central Office and worked there for seven years where he served in the following capacities: Science Director, Fine Arts Coordinator, Media Director, Gifted Director, and the Director of Teaching and Learning.  Greg has served as the Assistant Principal of Westside Middle School and is currently the Principal at Eastbrook Middle School.  Dr. Bailey has been the Earth Science Teacher of the Year for  the  states of Tennessee and Georgia, A National Board Certified teacher in High School Science, The Science Teacher of Year for Tennessee, a Finalist for the Georgia Teacher of the Year and has delivered professional development at the local, state, regional and national levels.  Dr. Bailey is married to Jacquelyn Bailey, a science and math teacher at Phoenix High School.  They live in the Southeast school zone and their daughters are graduates of Southeast High School and Georgia Southern University.   Greg and Jackie enjoy the great outdoors and being with their grandchildren.
